The official aims of Bridges to Belarus are as below, but a short expansion follows each of them.
1. The relief of financial hardship among people living or working in the Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus by providing such persons with goods & services which they could not otherwise afford through lack of means.
Identifying families in need of help, for a variety of reasons, will be assisted by my contacts in the region. They will be provided with the items that would be most useful to them. Funding will only be given directly to recognised organisations for a specific project that they have already researched and provided costings for. Receipts for the projects will be necessary, as will proof of the completion of the project.
2. To preserve and protect the health of the people living in Gomel region of the Republic of Belarus by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities, support services and equipment not normally provided by the statutory authorities. To advance the education of the inhabitants of the area in health care and well being.
This will mainly be achieved by providing basic healthcare, sanitation and hygiene equipment to families and organisations. In collaboration with local healthcare workers, education and provisions will be made to improve the health of the people in the region. This will only be carried out with local people because they understand the situation, problems and the families better than I ever will be able to.
