Melanie Hinks decided that she wanted to run a tombola at the Milton Road School summer fete and a raffle. I was expecting a few bottles of wine and some toys, but Mel had other ideas!
With prizes donated by Spymasters, Glaze to Amaze, Ten Pin Bowling, Bridge Farm, Purvis Boat Centre, Ely Cycle Centre, Mane Event, King Street Cycles, the Cambridge Toy Shop, Tesco and Grumpy's Pet Shop, she raised an amazing £450, in just two weeks!
This money will go directly to helping children in Belarus. Specifically, it will pay for a cooker for a family with two adopted children, vitamins for many children to boost their health in time for the winter and provide school equipment so that they can attend school.
We would like to thank everyone involved in the raffle and its organisation including Mel, Ted, Jasmine, Joshua, Maxine, Gill and all of Mel's family who helped at the actual events and in all the preparation, Milton Road School for their help and everyone who kindly donated items.
Mel is already planning another raffle for next year, which will have more prizes and opportunities to win. We will let you know about it in plenty of time for you to buy all your tickets!
