On her return from Rogachov, Chris Cockeram organised a fundraising event in her hometown, Sherborne, in Dorset. It was held on 29th September 2007, 10am – 1pm in the Age Concern Hall on Digby Road.
It was a huge success, with a queue forming outside even before 10am! There were delicious homemade cakes, tea and coffee, homemade soup and bread, a raffle, a bring-and-buy stall, and several craft stalls.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the stallholders and helpers, and to those who donated items for the bring-and-buy sale, without whom the event would not have been possible. An extra special thank you must go to Chris' family, who put in so much time and effort for weeks beforehand as well as on the day, and to Rachel Tucker who was so enthusiastic and pro-active in her support!
Thank you also to all those who donated prizes for the raffle:
| Vineyards | Naturalife |
| The Pear Tree | Brenda Pullan |
| Rachel Tucker | Angela Taylor |
| Alison Long | Oliver's Coffee Shop |
| Dickens & Dolphin | Little Monsters |
| Robin James Salon | Ginger & Pickles |
| Intrinseca |
and to the staff of Westlands, who were incredibly supportive in buying tickets.
The total raised at the event was £726.57 and it will provide much-needed items for families in Rogachov, such as vitamins, winter clothes, household items and school supplies.
